How to play Yahtzee online
Four ways to start a game, and what to expect once you are in one. Nothing to install and no account to create.

Solo against the AI
Tick Play vs AI on the home screen, enter your name, and start. The AI uses the same scoring and hold strategy as Smart Mode and takes all three rolls each turn, so it is a genuine opponent rather than a random roller.
Pass and play on one device
Enter each player's name, add as many players as you need, and start. The game prompts for one turn at a time and you hand the device around. This needs no connection between devices at all — useful on a train or anywhere the signal is poor.
Multiplayer with a QR code
Everyone plays on their own phone, and the board stays in sync in real time.
- Choose I'm playing to take a seat, or Display only to run the game on a TV or laptop without being a player.
- Tap Invite players. A QR code appears — friends point their phone camera at it and tap the link.
- On Windows and Mac you can also copy the invite link or share it through WhatsApp, Messenger, Telegram or Facebook. On phones and tablets the share buttons are deliberately hidden: switching apps to share would drop you out of your own room.
- Keep the invite screen open until everyone has joined, then close it with the × and start the game.
If someone drops out — their screen locks, they switch apps, the signal dies — the room holds their seat for two minutes. Reopening the game link within that window puts them back with their scorecard intact. That applies to the host too: new players can still join while the host is away.
Joining with a room code
If you cannot scan the QR code, the host's room code works just as well. On the home screen, type it under Have a room code? and tap Join.
While the game is running
A status line shows Connected, Reconnecting or Disconnected, with a Try reconnect button if you drop. Players who are away are listed, and if it is their turn the game waits briefly for them. If the host leaves for good, another connected player is promoted to host — a banner explains that only the new host can end the game or start a rematch.
Reading the board
Each player has a header row with their name, their running total, and a triangle showing whether their category list is open. With three or more players, everyone except the current player starts collapsed so the screen stays readable and emphasises totals; with one or two players everyone starts expanded. Tap any header to toggle it. Your choices persist until you change them or reload.
Controls sit in fixed places: the theme picker and toggles on the top-left, and Quick rules, End Game and Leave on the top-right.
Installing it as an app
The site is a progressive web app, so you can add it to your home screen and launch it like a native app. In Safari on iOS use Share → Add to Home Screen; in Chrome on Android use Install app from the menu. Solo and pass-and-play games work offline once it is installed; multiplayer needs a connection.
